Passage: Matthew 2:1-12

On January 5, 2025, Pender United Methodist Church held a special Epiphany service led by Pastor Bruce Johnson. This meaningful day commemorated the revelation of Christ to the Gentiles, symbolized by the Magi's visit, and celebrated in many Latino/a cultures as Dia de los Reyes.

Pastor Johnson delivered an enlightening sermon based on key readings from the Methodist lectionary for Epiphany, including Isaiah 60:1-6, Psalm 72:1-7, Psalm 72:10-14, Ephesians 3:1-12, and Matthew 2:1-12. These passages told the story of the Wise Men and their pivotal role in the Epiphany narrative, emphasizing the universal nature of Jesus’s message.

The service provided a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the broader implications of Christ's manifestation to the world and to celebrate the inclusivity of His message. It was a time to explore the themes of guidance, revelation, and universal love that Epiphany represents, offering both familiar and new insights into this pivotal moment in Christian faith.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us for this beautiful celebration!
