Passage: Genesis 18:12-25
Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Pender's worship on the 8th Sunday after Pentecost. Pastor Bruce Johnson preached a message titled “Covenant Vision,” exploring Hebrews 8:1-2, 8:6-13 and Matthew 26:26-30 as we reflected on God’s promise fulfilled in Jesus.
This message was from a series focusing on the journey of faith undertaken by Abraham, Sarah, and others who were chosen by God to begin the process of restoring a sinful and broken world through the creation of a new and beloved people fashioned by God's grace.
The story is told in Genesis 18:12-25. In exploring the lives of these patriarchs and matriarchs of our faith, we will seek to better understand the God who creates a people out of nothing, who restores life and hope where human efforts fail, and who is ever at work in our lives and in Jesus' church. In the unfolding vision and life that the Lord God revealed to our spiritual ancestors at a pivotal time in the history of the world, I believe that we will be better equipped to discern God's saving heart and ways for our time and place as followers of Jesus.
We also celebrated Holy Communion—come and be renewed in grace and community.
Whether in person or online, those who joined were renewed by God’s Word, music, and the warmth of Christian community.
