Passage: John 20:1-

On Easter Sunday, April 20, 2025, Pender United Methodist Church joyfully celebrated the resurrection of Christ with a powerful and hope-filled worship service.

Pastor Bruce Johnson delivered an inspiring Easter message titled “And the Word Became New Flesh,” reflecting on the promise and power of the resurrection through 1 Corinthians 15:19-26 and John 20:1-8.

The congregation also came together at the Lord’s Table to celebrate Holy Communion, remembering the gift of grace and new life made possible through Christ.

The service was rich with musical expression, featuring:

  • Beautiful handbell performances, including "Up From the Grave He Arose"
  • Inspiring choral pieces, including "You Live"
  • Beloved congregational hymns, including "Christ the Lord is Risen Today"
  • A touching Children’s Message by Pastor Bruce
  • A stirring rendition of Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus" by the choir and congregation
  • A majestic piano and organ duet, "Easter Medley" by Jane McKee and Mary O'Connor

It was a morning of joyful praise, heartfelt worship, and community celebration—a true reminder of the victory and renewal found in Easter.

At Pender UMC, everyone is welcome—just as they are. Whether in jeans or a suit, there’s always a place for you here.
