Operation Christmas Child

Pender has a long history of supporting the Samaritan’s Purse and specifically the Operation Christmas Child program.  Last week, our Pender community, lead by Cherie Kronimus, Sue Pierce, and countless Pender volunteers from our Sunday School classes, bible study groups, American Heritage Girls, individuals, and families within the greater Fairfax community came together and donated 1,615 shoe boxes filled with gifts for children world-wide.

Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization.  Their mission is to partner with local groups around the world with shoe boxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. These shoe boxes filled with simple gifts are sent outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the United States.
