Sunday, January 12, 2025, was a deeply transformative Service of Covenant Renewal at Pender UMC, guided by the historic framework of John Wesley's Covenant Renewal Service.

Wesley adapted the service from a Puritan ritual and first held it in London on August 11, 1755. He published his instructions for the service in 1780, and it was used without major changes for almost a century.

This service was a cherished opportunity for believers to renew their commitment to God. Pastor Bruce Johnson illuminated our spiritual journey in his sermon "Believing with Heart, Mind, and Life," drawing from Jeremiah 31:31-34 and John 15:1-8.

The service also extended an "Invitation to a Holy Life" through the empowering words of 1 Peter 1:3-9 and 1 Peter 1:13-25.
