This is the second sermon in the Advent Series “Experience the Joy”.
The drugstore add says, “Christmas is closer than you think”. We wonder, “Is that a threat?” To get ready, we think we’ve got to move heaven and earth, shovel out, and clear the path. It is as if we are in those airplane disaster movies, and we've got a crippled jetliner coming down on a runway that isn't cleared. Everyone is shouting; the machines aren't working; there is disaster on the horizon. It is as though there is never enough time, like it is all going to fall apart this time, and it is all your fault! And yet, it is the Lord is coming. Perhaps we should give up on our idea of perfection and tune into what God is doing. Discover what that is with us!
