Please meet Laura Bowers serving with CRU at George Mason University.
2023 started with a Cru Winter Conference in Baltimore. There were over 900 in attendance, 30 students from Mason. They were filled spiritually as the speakers challenged them with scripture. There was a strong emphasis on sharing the gospel and making it their main focus.
On Faith and Family Day at George Mason, several students initiated a time when they shared how their faith has helped them through adversity. This was so successful, that they plan to continue this program next year.
Servant Leaders Retreat - The Cru Staff, encourages and trains students to lead various teams for the Thursday night large group. They work with Emcees, AV crews, the Welcome team, the Social Media team and the Community Events team.
As part of Laura's job she continues to go to sporting events and support the student athletes and encourage the coaches. Wrestling and Basketball has filled her schedule.
Laura asks for prayers for stamina to keep up with the pace of college ministry, for volunteers to come along-side ministry staff, especially a guy to help her with male athletes and coaches at Mason.
- Please pray for the 1-on-1 meetings Laura has throughout the week.
- Pray for opportunities for these young ladies to apply and share what they are learning.
- Please pray for coaches to stay strong in their faith and be a light to their players and the Mason Community. Pray that they would continue to create genuine team culture and see each player and the value they bring to the team.
- Please pray that the students looking for answers to their faith questions will find community through campus ministries or church young adult ministries.
Laura shares that her dream is that every athlete and coach at Mason will know that there is a community for them and that they will meet others who truly follow Christ. It's exciting to see this beginning to happen!
