Breaking the Ice!

Meet another Pender sponsored missionary, Stephanie, serving with Campus Crusade for Christ at George Mason University. God has given Stephanie the gift to strike up a conversation with people she meets and she uses her gifts as God gives her opportunities to share the good news about Jesus.

Stephanie and her colleagues sometimes use a spiritual card game with people to listen and learn about their perspectives. Many students are eager to talk about spirituality and their listening and asking questions can be used by God to open up the door for Stephanie to ask to share her perspectives and consequently the Gospel.

Stephanie also tells about a time when her team had an impromptu lunch with some international students. They had the chance to chat a bit about some Christian holidays. While many students may not come to something that is explicitly exploring Christian topics, as they share meals and life experiences, spirituality always comes up!

Also, a planned trip to the Museum of the Bible with some students may lead to some great conversations about Jesus.

What’s in the future plans for Stephanie? Her team here in DC have been communicating with the Cru sign language ministry, Hands of Fire, in New York to prayerfully plan and prepare to reach more international and American deaf students at Gallaudet University.

Stephanie plans to continue with her sign classes and asks for prayer for her personal knowledge of sign language to increase, and also that God would give her team opportunities to partner well with Hands of fire to reach this largely unreached people group so that they can see the good news about Jesus.
