Pender UMC's Response to Hurricane Flooding | UMCOR Relief Effort

In the spirit of our Wesleyan heritage, Pender United Methodist Church is responding to the devastating flooding in North Carolina and beyond. The Virginia Conference has called on every congregation to contribute to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief), which is already on the ground bringing aid to those in need.

On Sunday, October 13, Pender UMC held a special offering in worship for UMCOR's Flood Relief efforts. If you'd still like to contribute, you can make a check out to Pender UMC and mark it for “Flood Relief.” Online donations can be made via Pender’s Giving page, marked for UMCOR.

Every dollar goes directly to buying essential items for the relief efforts. UMCOR's 5-gallon Flood Buckets, which cost $75 each, contain critical supplies for those impacted by the hurricane. Our goal is to fund as many as possible.

On Sunday, October 20 we gathered to assemble 44 Flood Buckets while enjoying pizza, soda, and cookies. Together, we worked to make a difference for those affected by the disaster.

Thank you for partnering with Pender UMC to meet human need with Christ-like compassion.

Thank you for your generous support of building the flood buckets. Pender completed 11 buckets and we had extra supplies to donate also.

There was even show and tell with some of the Burke UMC preschoolers. The kids were very interested to see what was inside the buckets and what they were for. You’re never too early to learn about missions.
