American Heritage Girls (AHG) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the mission of building women of integrity through service to God, family, community and country. The organization offers merit badge programs, service projects, girl leadership opportunities and outdoor experiences to its members. This program of character building has successfully served thousands of girls since its inception and will continue to do so long into the 21st century.

Pender's AHG troop's vision is to provide a Christ-centered program for school-aged girls through which we can disciple them to walk with Jesus. The AHG Statement of Faith is consistent with Pender's mission to know God, to love God and others, to grow in God, to share God and to serve God and others in Jesus' name. The oath teaches the girls the importance of loving God, cherishing family, honoring our country and serving in our community.
Our troop's activities center around the following goals:
* To help girls grow in a personal relationship with Christ as Savior.
* To be a witness for Christ in our community, country and world.
* To bless and serve our sponsoring church and community
* To provide fellowship and to nurture Godly friendships
We hold three troop meetings and each month. We also plan a variety of special activities for the girls and their families, including a Mother/Daughter Tea, Father/Daughter Dance, camping, and hiking. We serve Pender and our community through numerous projects, such as helping at a hypothermia center for the homeless, Adopt-A-Highway, Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Gifts, and helping the United Methodist Women with their Fall and Spring boutiques.
